Dear diary, the game I is called "The Novelist".

The Novelist

You're... a ghost (I guess) stuck in a cabin which is visted by a troubling family. Since you're bored out of your mind you're going to figure out what exactly is going on with this family.

Note: this playthrough contains spoilers. But what else did you expect from a story rich exploration game.

This is basically a slight twist on a point and click. One difference is that you're doing the exploration first person. So it's kind of like Stanley Parable in that way. Another is that you can affect the story line in a choose-your-own-adventure kind of way.

The playthrough goes through chapter one. I'm not sure if it really spoils anything beyond introductionaries but whatever. But I did not get far enough to see the repercussions of whatever choice I made.

From what I understand though, your choices affect the story later on. So I'm hoping that's true because that's kind of cool. In a non-completionist kind of way, of course.

Verdict: It's an exploration game, borderline point'n'click. The implementation is solid though. The intriguing story line is presented quite well and I think it'll make for an entertaining game.

Familiarity: Not played before
