Vangers

Wow. You're. They're. Ehhh.

This is a port from a game from 1998. However when I was playing I did not know this, nor expect it. I do mention that the graphics have a '90s feeling to it, so bonus points for me.

This game puts you in an alien world with equally alien interface. You really just have no idea what to do. Are those buttons or are they art? Why am I spraying graffiti? Wait am I racing already? Are they friend or foe? They're foe! Foe foe get out! How do I go forward, shoot, why can they jump and how do I jump, aaaaaaah!

The game is super confusing at first, which may be part of its selling point. You're not just meant to discover the world, but the game as a whole. The graphics look a bit fuzzy but work well together with the story line and general UI. Everything is integrated.

Gameplay is part racing, part fighting, part discovery, and part trading. And of course there are quests. Though in my half hour I spent at least half of it discovering how to play the game in the first place.

Verdict: The wow factor is high in this game. Not exactly in awe, but more because you don't know what to do. But if that doesn't scare you off immediately you'll quickly discover a deep game with lots of content and story line. In a weird way it was very appealing.

Familiarity: Wow.
