Dear diary, the game I played.today is called "Mountain".

Mountain

You're a mountain. No really, that's what you are. You... are. And that's what you do; be.

This game, if you want to call it a game, is all about looking at a mountain grow and evolve. You watch day and night cycles, the seasons passing, and stuff growing on you.

The game's gimmick is that you have no control. Well that's not entirely true, you can move the camera. And at start you're ask to draw a few things. I think they are used to initialize the randomizer seed, but who knows.

The main problem is that it's slow. Not slow as in lagging but slow as in progression. Obviously a day night cycle runs faster than real time, but still in half 'n hour I may have seen all the seasons and hardly anything happened.

It's a nice screensaver but to call this simulation a game is very far fetched.

Verdict: If only it had a fast forward button. Look this is not a game. I love these kinds of simulations in general but as it stands the progression of time is too slow and the point of the ... thing is lost on me. This was disappointing, I was looking forward to this game. If you like watching dull mountains then this "game" is perfect for you, but I'm sure you'll be happy that you can skip the video forward at least. I'm puzzled how it got so many positive reviews on steam.

Familiarity: Certainly the first time I was a mountain and for my next trick I'll be a screensaver, too.
